I have been SO EXCITED to share this cute little starter home with you all for a few weeks now! Five reasons why this house is so awesome:
For one, it’s super cute. Yippee.
For two, Awesome yard. Boom.
For three: it’s well kept. Whoo hoo.
And for four and five? Location, Location, Location. Or does that make it six reasons?
Encino Park was originally built at the RKO Ranch in the late 1940s as part of GI housing for the recent war vets returning home. With approximately 7 floor plans, the two bedroom, 1 bath homes had 800 square feet, one car garages and sold for just shy of $9,000.
Drive past meandering tree-lined streets and waive hello to the neighbors walking the dog on your way home to 5936 Hesperia.
This cute starter home is one of the original floor plans, with two bedrooms, 1 bath and approximately 781 square feet. Many people enjoy the Floor plan Style A like this one because it’s ripe for expansion. The lot is a great size at approximately 5500 square feet too, leaving plenty of space to grow a garden, run around, or add an extra suite.
Upon walking up the front driveway, with mature landscaping and a two car parking pad, enter the home’s main living space with a well proportioned living room and dining nook. Rich hardwood floors have been refinished and well kept. A vintage style glass light fixture in the nook retains some of the original period charm.
Let’s take a slight detour to the left and head towards the bedrooms. The hallway with both built-in cabinetry and a closet allow for extra storage space. And the hallway bathroom with ceramic tiling gets great light.
Both bedrooms are well proportioned for the size of the home, and have great closet space as well. And how cute are the little vintage details in the knobs?!
Next, let’s head back to the main space, and into the kitchen. One of my favorite features of this light and bright kitchen is the glass block transition from the kitchen to the dining/living room. It allows light to stream into both rooms, making the house feel more spacious. So smart!
Step out the back kitchen door and into this fantastic back yard! LOVE! What a great place to unwind with a glass of wind or watch the kiddos play. A great covered patio allows you to entertain or host a cook out while you lounge lazily.
The current homeowners have a little raised garden and fruit trees to enjoy our full year growing seasons.
Even the one car garage has received special treatment. The current home owners finished off and drywalled the space and added a finished attic with lighting and insulation to protect all your valuables. An important feature for those looking to store their holiday decorations!

Located near Lake Balboa homeowners can walk to the Sepulveda Dam Recreation Area and other park features. Or if you’d prefer spending your time with less grass stains, Encino Park is located near Ventura Boulevard and Encino Commons–an area filled with over 300+ shops and restaurants. Being just minutes from the 101 and the 405 freeways, Encino is just a hop, skip, and jump to wherever you’re needing to be.
And there you have it! The perfect place to say “mine”. I will be there Sunday May 4th from 2PM-5PM so feel free to stop by and see how great this gem really is. Come appreciate why this is Encino’s own version of Mayberry.
