It’s Black History Month and there are so many ways to celebrate the achievements that have moved our nation over the past many years! February is full of love and inspiration…and there are is always something to do here in the San Fernando Valley!

 

 

 

 

Sat Feb 18

All Locations – Every Saturday, at all Williams-Sonoma locations, they are hosting a cooking class for children ages 5-13. Kids can learn to make snacks, main dishes, and deserts.

All Locations – Today, at all Home Depots, they have a free monthly workshop for kids ages 5-12. The workshop teaches them basic DIY skills and tool safety. The children get to take home their craft and a free Kids Workshop kit.

Burbank – Stop by the Burbank Central Library for the LEGO Club for Kids! Children ages 2-14 can build and create with thousands of LEGO’s.

Burbank – Every Saturday from 8am – 12:30pm in Downtown Burbank check out the Farmer’s Market. They have a wide selection of fruits, vegetables, and other fare arriving fresh from local farms!

Griffith Park – It’s PBS SoCal Weekend and the L.A. Zoo! There will be book readings, crafts, dancing…and children can meet and take photos with Daniel Tiger and Curious George!

Los Angeles – Calling all sweet tooth’s! The L.A. Cookie and Sweets Convention is here at the L.A Convention Center this weekend. This is the West Coast’s biggest baking, pastry and sweets convention! $20+ per ticket

Pasadena – The Annual Black History Parade honors the history and achievements of African Americans. Starting at the Charles White Park and ending with food, fun and music!

Sun Feb 19

Griffith Park – Cal State L.A.’s Afro-Latin Ensemble plays Salsa and Afro Latin music at the Gene Autry Museum while you dance the night away! Only $10 for non-members. Appropriate for ages 13+.
