Did everyone make it out of the holiday’s okay?? It’s always a little refreshing to start a new year, take a deep breath, and hit the new year with so much enthusiasm and motivation! With so many gatherings and holiday parties in December, January is usually a slower month than usual which hopefully allows us to focus on what’s ahead. Enjoy what 2017 in the San Fernando Valley has to offer and check out my upcoming events for things to do this month!

Fri Jan 6

Griffith Park – Santa may have returned home to the North Pole, but he left his reindeer at the Los Angeles Zoo for all of us to enjoy just a bit longer. This event will be available only through January 8th.

La Canada Flintridge – Descanso Gardens in gorgeous color. Their hallmark oak trees and botanic collections will be the stars of this brand new, exciting holiday season light show event. Running through January 9th.

Burbank – The Rink in Downtown Burbank is only here through January 8th! The rink will be open from 10am-10pm, with extended hours on the weekends…and they even have skating classes!

Sat Jan 7

All Locations – Today, at all Home Depots, they have a free monthly workshop for kids ages 5-12. The workshop teaches them basic DIY skills and tool safety. The children get to take home their craft and a free Kids Workshop kit.

Burbank – Every Saturday from 8am – 12:30pm in Downtown Burbank check out the Farmer’s Market. They have a wide selection of fruits, vegetables, and other fare arriving fresh from local farms!

Encino – 2nd Annual Foster the Future 5K/10K Run at the Woodley Park beginning at 8:30am. This is a wonderful opportunity to help support emancipated foster youth! Tickets available here.

Sun Jan 8

Burbank – “Take a chilly ride down the water slide” from 11am – 12pm for Polar Plunge at the Verdugo Aquatic Facility. This is a free event with hot chocolate and photos after the plunge.

Sat Jan 14

Burbank – Every Saturday from 8am – 12:30pm in Downtown Burbank check out the Farmer’s Market. They have a wide selection of fruits, vegetables, and other fare arriving fresh from local farms!

Burbank – LEGO Club for Kids will be at the Burbank Central Library from 10am – 12pm for a fun chance for kids to create and build with Legos.

Pasadena – Every day through January 17th Kidspace celebrates the message of Martin Luther King, Jr. Children can build multi-cultural sculptures and help create a communal unity chain.
