October is here, the weather is cooling off and ’tis the season for beer and haunting events!  If you are looking for something fun to do in the San Fernando Valley and other surrounding areas, then you’ve come to the right place.

Fri October 2nd

KoreatownKorean Festival Oct 1st to the 4th. You can get a taste of Korean culture from the street food, vendors, entertainers and kpop artists. Event is FREE to get in.
Newport Beach– It’s a little bit of a drive but if you’re in the mood for some modern and contemporary art the Orange County Museum of Art is the place to go. Admission is FREE today.

Pasadena– Come spend the day at the Southern California Women’s Health Conference and Expo getting expert advice from wellness, beauty and medical professionals. Get your flu shot along with other free health screens then enjoy a luncheon with a Keynote speaker and fashion show. Event is FREE, if you’d like to participate in workshops you will have to register (there is no cost for this either)
Pasadena– Learn about California art and culture at the Pasadena Museum of California Art. Admission is FREE today.
Tarzana- Everything is AWESOME!  Head to Tarzana park for the Movie Under the Stars for a showing of Lego Movie.  Even pizza dinner is included for free!

Sat October 3rd

Burbank-The Fall Spooktacular will be held today from 10am to 5pm. There will be Halloween and Thanksgiving clothes, accessories and decor and all proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Event is FREE. 
BurbankThe Tournament of Roses Association is holding their annual craft fair is today. If you’re looking for a unique holiday gift you may find it here. There will be 20+ vendors to explore. Event is FREE to window shop.
Burbank– The Brand Associates Dance Series presents Sarah Reich’s Tap Music Project. Come watch his toe tapping performance and have a meet and greet with the performers after. This event is FREE. 
Burbank– The Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra will be playing tonight from 7:30 pm to 10 pm. Le Tombeau de Couperin, Violin Concerto in E minor and Beethoven’s Symphony No.7 will be performed tonight. This event is FREE.
Burbank– “Believe in Magic” will be played at the LA Equestrian Center. This is a story of love between the King and Queen and a battle to defeat the Black Knight. The show starts at 7:30 and if a FREE family fun night.
DTLAVegan Oktoberfest Oct 3rd and 4th. Come celebrate Oktoberfest with traditional German food, music and of course beer! Tickets range from $45-55 but good news if you are the Designated Driver you only pay $20!
DTLA-Grand Park’s Performance Lawn and Olive court is where you’ll find Proud Stories. The LGBTQ community will be sharing stories of love, acceptance and joy today. There will be reading, theater performances and kids activities. This event is FREE.

Long Beach-HERE’S JOHNNY!!! Sunnyside Cemetery will be showing the 1980’s classic horror movie The Shining. Come see how Jack Torrance handles being a caretaker at the Overlook Hotel. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. and showtime is at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 online and $15 at the gate.
Los Feliz– The 29th Annual Lithuanian Fair will be in town from Oct 3rd to Oct 4th, Gates open at 11am. Get a glimpse of Lithuanian culture from musicians, folk dancers and performers. Tickets are $10-20 and kids under 12 are FREE.
Sierra Madre– Sierra Madre is hosting the 21st Annual Angel Festival. Everything Angel in the City of Angels. There will be crafts, vendors and face painting for children. This event is FREE and if you dress up like an Angel get a$5 coupon to spend at the Festival!

Sherman Oaks– Needing to brush up on your self defense skills or just want to learn? There will be a Women’s Self Defense Workshop held at the LA Police Department Mission Division from 10 am to noon. To RSVP or for more information, please call the District Office at 818-376-4246. This class is FREE.
Sherman Oaks– Do you know someone who has been affected by Leukemia or Lymphoma? Show your support for them or get the support that you need with the Light the Night fundraising walk. The event is FREE. Anyone can walk. Donations are welcome.
Sherman Oaks- Dance along during the free family concert at the Sherman Oaks Public Library.  This week, performing will be Inca, playing traditional Peruvian music. 

Sun October 4th

Costa Mesa– You or your kids love to read? Then the Orange County Children’s Book Festival is for you! You can meet authors and illustrators, listen to storytime and of course have hundreds of books to explore. Event is FREE.
DTLAVegan Oktoberfest Oct 3rd and 4th. Come celebrate Oktoberfest with traditional German food, music and of course beer! Tickets range from $45-55 but good news if you are the Designated Driver you only pay $20!
DTLA– Like your chocolate spicy? Then come to the Mole Festival– one of the largest Mexican food festivals in the country. Enjoy a family friendly environment with arts, crafts, music and of course food. This event is FREE to attend.
Griffith Park– “We like the zoo because we’re animals too!” Sing some Walter Martin as you make your way over to Boo at the LA Zoo. Join in on some of the fun with crafts, storytelling, and learning about some of the more spookier creatures.

La Habra– The La Habara Kids Museum is having a FREE day today. Get the kids ready and explore!

Reseda- If you missed it the first time then you are in luck!  The West Valley Library will be showing the newest Cinderella.  So grab some popcorn and settle in for a classic.

Fri October 9th

Burbank– Want to entertain the kids for a bit? Then take them to the Northwest Branch Library to make pumpkin bags. Reservations are required. Space is limited. Call 818-238-5640 to reserve your spot! This event is FREE.
Northridge- Looking for a great, different date night? CSUN is putting on the Pulitzer prize winning play, Idiot’s Delight. A comedy ensues when a group of unlikely characters are stranded in an alpine hotel as WWII looms. So plan on some belly laughs and bring your best date!
Pasadena- Pick up a paint brush for Art Night Pasadena.  With more than 20 locations participating , including Kidspace for your future Frieda Kahlo, there should be something for everyone. 

Ventura– Bagpipes? Kilts? Highland dancers and big men throwing things? It can only mean one thing; The Seaside Highland Games are in town! Admission ranges from $16-$5 for a one day pass. Children 5 and under FREE.

Sat October 10th

Burbank– If you like silent movies then come enjoy some quiet viewing at the Historical Society/Gordon R. Howard Museum. There will be silent movies, cartoon shorts and some Halloween historical gems! Event is FREE.
Burbank– Come shake your groove thang with Blue 13! Blue 13 is part of the Brand Associates Dance Series. They will be at the Brand Library from 2pm to 4pm dancing a combination of jazz, hip hop and modern and traditional Bollywood and Bhangra movements. Wear comfortable clothes because this is an interactive performance! Event is FREE.
DTLA– Popol Vuh: Heart of Heaven tells of a Mayan creation myth with an L.A. twist. Local L.A. talent will tell the story through puppetry, music and dance. Event is FREE and will be held at Grand Park’s Performance Lawn. Bring blankets or low chairs to sit on to enjoy the show.

Encino-They call it the San Fernando Valley’s Ultimate Block Party- The 28th Annual A Taste of Encino. Come and experience the family fun atmosphere and enjoy a variety of vendors, a health fair and kids activities. Event is FREE.
La Cañada Flintridge (Pasadena)
