DWTN – Exposition Park – The Natural History Museum The Butterfly Pavilion gets a late start for 2016, opening on September 16. The exhibit runs until October 16. A permanent structure has been built and is located on the south side of the museum. In it are hundreds of free flying butterflies flittering, landing and showing their extreme beauty.
DWTN – LA Convention Center – The LA Green Festival is for environmentalists, young and old alike! The festival features vegetarian and vegan cooking demonstrations and educational activities for kids and families. Enjoy good food, live music and inspirational speakers that will talk about product and services they can utilize to live gren.
Griffith Park – LA Zoo – Mom and Dad, make it a date night with Roaring Nights at the LA Zoo. This after-hours fun time is for 18 and up. Roam the zoon on your own, enjoy food and great music by local indie-bands…complete with a FULL BAR!
Pasadena – You still have time to enjoy the Levitt Pavilion’s Annual Summer Music Festival. Enjoy the Latin BMI Summer Nights as they play the night away.

Carson – Stubhub Center – We Are LA is a wonderful LA area music festival that benefits several LA Children’s Charities. Featuring artists like Lisa Loeb, Jessica Sanchez, Rachel Platten and Reluctant Apostles featuring Katey Sagal and stars like Kevin Costner, this festival is sure to be a great time for all.
Burbank – Golden State Gymnastics is celebrating National Gymnastics Day by hosting an open house to kids interested in participating in the sport. This family free event will have fun on the trampoline, obstacle course and the full gym area to explore and have fun. See demos and exhibitions by the GSC’s gymnasts. Register for the event online or by downloading the gym’s app.
DWTN – Olivera Street- Celebrate Mexican Independence Day this weekend! Families can join in the celebration of Mexico’s independence from Spain with traditional and popular entertainment, children’s workshops, historic displays and plenty of food and artisan exhibits.
DWTN – Exposition Park – Natural History Museum invites kids to become a scientist for a day in this monthly program at the Natural History Museum. Kids are encouraged to think, observe, and ask questions so that they can make their own scientific discoveries.
Glendale – Glendale Open Arts Music Festival is Downtown Glendale’s inaugural free community festival. This festival features plenty of musical performances, arts markets, beer and wine gardens and access to a public art installation.
Pasadena – Pasadena Loves Ya! Pasadena Central Library is holding its annual YA book event features panels, signings, giveaways, and the opportunity to meet the authors. This is a free and non-ticketed event and books will be available for purchase at the event.
Woodland Hills – The Target in the Westfield Topanga Mall will be holding the BCB (Bump Club and Beyond) morning of all things registry. Local Moms can meet with and talk to over a dozen baby brands and attendees receive free products, samples, & exclusive discounts from event sponsors.

DWTN – Exposition Park – Let your child’s inner mad scientist come out at the Natural History Museum.
This monthly program encourages kids to think, observe, and ask questions so that they can make their own scientific discoveries. This program has sessions at 10:30am and 1:30pm. No reservations are required; check in at the Dueling Dinosaurs in the Museum’s foyer on the day of for a free entry ticket. Program is free with museum admission.

Los Angeles – Paramount Studios – Join the haunt with Paramount Studio’s After Dark Tour Tales From The Other Side. This two-and-a-half-hour guided tour and the neighboring Hollywood Forever Cemetery is sure to be a thrilling after-hours experience. The tour digs up the dirt on Hollywood’s dearly departed and comes with a personalized souvenir photo and remembrance rose, as well as complimentary champagne and candy and popcorn hosted in an eerie location.

Pasadena – The Pasadena Central Library offers a writing workshop for kids ages 8 to 12. It’s never too early for kids to start writing their own stories. No expertise required – just a love stories and a great imagination.
Pasadena – OOOpaaaa!!!! Head out to the Pasadena Greek Festival this Friday thru Sunday at St. Anthony’s Church. The fun includes performances of Greek dancing and music, as well as church tours. Once you’ve worked up an appetite you can partake of the many Greek delights: gyros, souvlaki, moussaka, and baklava are just a few of the items on the menu.

Canoga Park – Inspired by the Summer Olympics? Then you are going to love the Free Synchro Clinic presented by the Los Angeles Synchronized Swim Club. This event is appropriate for kids ages 7 to 17, whether new to synchro or interested in advancing their skills. The clinic focuses on flexibility, technique and conditioning for Figures.
Chatsworth – Need some fun on a Saturday? Head out to Arcade Warehouse to play classic games you remember from your childhood, including vintage arcades, skee ball, air hockey, pinball, kiddie rides and more. All for free!
DWTN – Exposition Park – Dino Fest is The Natural History Museum‘s two- day festival celebrating dinosaurs, their prehistoric past and the science that brings their world back to life. World-renowned paleontologists from the Museum and beyond discuss historic and ongoing fossil discoveries from around the world. Griffith Park – Autry Museum – What Is a Western? -film series is an ongoing presentation that examines a variety of films about the American West. You will be viewing both traditional and non-traditional Westerns that will provide unique insights into the genre.
North Hollywood – The International Film Festival North Hollywood will be presenting the summer hit, Blue Crush. The movie is free and families are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs. This week’s show will be at North Hollywood Park.
Pasadena – Kidspace celebrates the coming of our favorite season with their Autumn Equinox Celebration. Visitors can create a leaf crown and sun catcher and create other fall-inspired fun items.
Various LA Locations – Take part in the Smithsonian Magazine Museum Day! Smithsonian Magazine once again sponsors Museum Day. All across the country, select museums will offer free admittance with a Museum Day ticket. Check out which LA area museums will be participating! Please note: Museum Day is Saturday September 24. However, there are a few venues that are closed Saturdays (such as the Zimmer Museum). For those venues only Museum Day is Sunday September 25.

Griffith Park – Autry Museum – Kids can learn how to pan for gold just like the old 49ers did back in the days of early California. This activity is free with the price of admission to the museum.
Mission Hills – Join the Native American Indian Gallery for the Grand Opening of the Pico Adobe’s newest permanent exhibit, the Native American Indian Gallery. This exhibit recognizes the art, history and culture of the Indigenous peoples of North America and includes selected pieces from the Paul Knapp and Eileen Weissberg collection. Activities will include sage smudging, a ribbon cutting, Native storytelling, children’s games, and craft booths, tours of the gallery and adobe and light refreshments.
Pasadena – Don’t miss the 18th Annual Wiggle Waggle Walk! Bring out your fur babies for this great cause! You can register at wigglewagglewalk.org and start fundraising for the animals. Registration includes an event t-shirt, bib number and dog bandana! If you register early, you will be invited to skip the registration lines at the event and check in early at the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA on September 18th.
West Beverly Hills – Get your fitness on with LA Daydream! West Beverly Hills (W Los Angeles) is kicking off their summer fitness offerings in style with the launch of their summer ‘Daydream’ series.
