So…after my last post about the “adopt-a-family” programs in the San Fernando Valley, I was asked by a few of you if there are any local non-profits that could use our help for the holidays?? Look no further! I have looked up a few that could definitely use our donations. There is always a charity that could use your help. If you are short on cash…volunteer! If you are short on time…donate! If you are short on cash and time and need some help for the holidays…maybe you could register to receive a donation for your own family?
The Village Family Services – This one is dear to my heart. The Village Family Services protect children from abuse, preserve families and build a stronger, safer community for all. For the holiday season, they are seeking donations of new, unwrapped gifts to benefit children, youth and the families they serve. Some items needed are: toys, art supplies, sports equipment, puzzles, board games, books, gift cards for teenagers, and hygiene products for homeless youth.
Burbank Temporary Aid Center – This is a no brainer! Burbank Temporary Aid Center provides the poor, working poor, and homeless of the local community with basic services they need to live with dignity, and to serve the citizens of the city in times of emergency and disaster. You can support this local non-profit this holiday season by visiting their page and clicking on the link for Amazon Smile. For every eligible AmazonSmile purchase, Amazon will donate 0.5% to this cause. Easy peezy!
Friends & Helpers – This non-profit supports, educates, and encourages domestic abuse victims who have fled to a shelter or group home for safety. This organization offers so much to help these victims get out of a violent, hurtful situation by counseling, job training, financial planning and life skills. There are so many things you can do for them this holiday season. To list a few: Adopt-a-Family, Adopt-a-Stocking, Adopt-a-Essentials Tote, Adopt-a-Snack Bag, provide gift cards and/or new toys and games.
Los Angeles Fire Department Spark of Love – And…for those of us that cannot choose that one program to lay our heart into because we love them all. The Spark of Love program collects unwrapped new toys and sporting goods and donates them to the local charities that they choose. That takes all the pressure off of you and allows you to focus on the giving. They will be holding special events around the SFV for collections. Visit their website for a date and location near you!
The 7th Annual Cruise-In and Toy Drive – Hosted by Bob’s Big Boy, the Rodfathers, and the Yakety-Yaks Car Clubs on Friday, December 2nd from 4pm-9pm at the Bob’s Big Boy in Northridge. Bring unwrapped toys, games and donations for boys and girls in need this holiday season. This event supports the US Military who are unable to go home for the holidays.
