What I find interesting about this particular data, is that it’s so incredibly regional. Buyers in ocean side communities are naturally going to seek ocean views. Unless your moving to Big Bear, a So Cal buyer is probably not going to be apart of those saying they want to see a ski resort because that just isn’t typical real estate found here.
What I do find interesting is that I suspected the largest demographic to be ‘golf course views’ because of the accessibility to a larger population and then had guessed ocean views to be number two. However, more people preferred the ocean views to golf course. Now I guess it stands to reason that larger Californian cities are usually commutable to the ocean, even if a golf course could be found anywhere. I also imagined seeing ‘city views’ as a topic and it was not presented at all.
At the end of the day, I would say that for our neck of the woods, if I had to give a poll to clients, I would hear ‘city views’ first and foremost. Then perhaps golf courses as we have the fortune of being near so many great country clubs: Braemar, El Caballero, Woodland Hills… and I’d have ocean views round out my top 3 for those buyers looking in Santa Monica, the Palisades, Brentwood, and Malibu.
What do you think? Would you agree that the San Fernando Valley would rank views similarly?
