Looking for more to do and see this weekend in the San Fernando Valley and surrounding Los Angeles area?  Look no further, my friends.  Here’s a few ideas whether you’re with some friends or with some family.

Friday July 31st

Burbank- The last Friday of the month means it’s time for Ladies and Gents Night Out, there will be over 30 food trucks, music and shopping along Magnolia blvd!
DTLA- The FigAt7th Downtown Festival is back! Tonight Anderson .Paak & The Free Nationals will perform after the Taste Happy Hour.  Free.
DTLA- Ready to shake your groove thing?  Dance Downtown, folks!  Open to all ages, The Music Center will have live music & DJs to wiggle to Cumbia music. Grab a picnic or a grab a bite. Free.
Hermosa Beach- Want to get out of the heat?  Why not head to the beach?  Hermosa Beach is home to the 2015 International Surf Festival.   Watch contestants ages 8-80 compete in various competitions all weekend long.  Free  
Huntington Beach- Along the lines of surfing you may also want to check out the US Open of Surfing.  It will be going on all week till Sunday!  Free
Costa Mesa-  What can be a better way to spend your day than with your family?   Games, rides, animals, food and hard to find wares Orange County Fair offers something for everyone.  This event ends soon and you don’t want to miss it!  Tickets $12
Los Angeles- What’s better than the art at LACMA?  How about Jazz at LACMA, come and enjoy the sounds of Dwight Tribe.  Free
Los Angeles- This year Southern California is the Host to the Special Olympics, with many events all over town.  There’s so many, it’s too hard to just pick one.  Check out their events page to find just the right sport for you!  Free
Sherman Oaks- It’s that time again!  Westfield Fashion Square is playing movies on the rooftop Friday evenings.  Bring your blanket and prepare for a blast from the past: this week’s movie is Back to the Future!  Free
West Hollywood- Feel sad no more.  Bar Lubitsch will be hosting a Free Comedy Show. No cover, no drink minimums.  Come check out comedians like Alice Wetterlund (Silicon Valley) and Ryan Connor (Last Comic Standing) rock the stage.  Free.

Burbank- Do you love fresh fruits and vegetables as much as I do?  Then take a trip over to Burbank’s Farmers Market and maybe you’ll see me there.  No lie – I’m usually found by the cheese guy.  Free
Burbank- It’s the 4th annual Downtown Burbank Car Classic come and see pre-1974 sports cars and bikes, exotics, cruisers and hot rods.  This is an event for the whole family.  Entertainment included!  Free
Burbank- Burbank is apparently the place to be!  Come move your body and get your feet a’ going with the Run Magnolia Park group every first Saturday of the month.  Whether you are running, walking, or a pushing a stroller – all are welcome to get up and go!  Free
Filipinotown- Located near Echo Park, come celebrate the Phillipines during the the 13th Annual Historic Filipinotown Festival.  Music. Food. Miss. Filipinotown contestants…. all Free.
Los Angeles- If you’ve been eagerly awaiting the new Netflix spin off of the cult movie Wet Hot American Summer, then you’re probably a fan of the movie itself.  Lucky for you Eat | See | Hear is offering a screening at the Autry! Tickets $12
Pasadena- Head to the Gamble House before August 16th for the Upstairs Downstairs tour offered only for a limited time.  Servants quarters will be available to tour, allowing those to compare the served from those doing the service.  Adults $20.
Sherman Oaks- This Saturday morning is time for Kids Club at the Sherman Oaks Galleria.  This Saturday will feature Singer Dan Crow who loves to sing his music as story.  It starts at 10:30.  Free
Tarzana- If you’re an artist buff then perhaps you should make your way to the San Fernando Valley Arts and Cultural Center for “16 Visions”, a collection work from 16 community artists. Free.
Playa Del Rey- Make it and Take it”, this is a free craft project for kids 0-12 at Dockweiler Youth Center.  Children please bring an adult with you.  This takes place every Saturday!  Free
Woodland Hills- Everything is AWESOME!  Grab a blanket and cheer on Emmett during the Movies on the Green showing of The Lego Movie at Warner Park. Free

Hollywood- Need a pick me up? It’s hard to be sad all week during the 13th Annual Improv Comedy Festival running until August 8th. Competitions, Shows, workshops, and Live Podcasts will all be available to giggle and chuckle to. Prices vary.
Los Angeles- Foster the STEM skills in a child during Lincoln Logs to Legos at The Autry this Sunday!  Come and build your masterpiece and tour The Autry, it runs from 1-4.  Free with paid admission.
Manhattan Beach- It’s that time again come down and enjoy the 55th annual Manhattan Beach Sand Castle Design Contest!  Enter as a contestant or just watch the amazing structures being built.  Free
Santa Clarita- Looking for a way to keep cool?  Perhaps the guys in blue are here to help!  Keep an eye out for the Helpful Honda Ice Cream truck rolling around Santa Clarita and Valencia Sunday, passing out free cold treats!  Free.
Woodland Hills- Warner Park is holding concerts in the park Sunday evenings through September.  This week The Modern Gentlemen will perform the music of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.   The concert starts at 6.  Free

Friday August 7th

DTLA- The FIGat7t Downtown Festival is pumping the beats with Mild High Club & Peanut Butter Wolf this week.  Come shake your groove thang! Free.
Los Angeles- What’s better than the art at LACMA?  How about Jazz at LACMA, come and enjoy the offbeat accents and fresh arrangements of MONK’estra.  Free
North Hills- Does your preschooler have an affinity for music and culture?  The Mid-Valley Library will be hosting World Music for Preschoolers to help foster their love.  Free.
Sherman Oaks- It’s the first Friday of the month and that means it’s time to come and Dance Under the Stars at the Sherman Oaks Galleria.  Music starts at 7:30 with the main event starting at 8:45.  Can’t dance? Don’t worry about there – there will be free dance lessons!   Free
Sherman Oaks- Grab your kiddos and favorite old school toy: Toy Story will be the movie of the week at Westfield Fashion Square’s  is playing movies on the rooftop Friday evenings.  Free
Studio City- Find your center with Mindfulness Mediation at the Studio City Library.  Ommmmm.  Free
Los Angeles- This is the last weekend to catch the Special Olympics while they are still here!  Come root on the participants and cheer along at several available events around town.  Free
Los Angeles- Normally I try to post things in the cheap to free category but Brew at the Zoo is just too good to pass up putting on this list.  Enjoy yummy craft beer while supportign the brewery!  Tickets $45-99

Saturday August 8th

Sherman Oaks-  Once again it’s time for Saturday morning Kid Club at the Sherman Oaks Galleria.  This week is featuring Magician Dave Skale who is a performer at the Magic Castle! Come and be wowed by his amazing talents.  Free
Sherman Oaks- In need to grow your book collection? Perhaps one or two from the Sherman Oaks Book Sale at the Sherman Oaks Library is the perfect place to find some.  Free.
Van Nuys- Looking for something fun to do with the little ones? The Van Nuys Branch Public Library will be hosting Preschool Story Time at 10:30AM and then a special workshop called LACMA for Kids at 11:30AM.  Literature and Arts – the perfect combination. Free.
Woodland Hills- The Valley Cultural Center is great for hosting a good time on a Saturday night – and a showing of Muppets Most Wanted is certainly no exception. So bring the family and stake out some space on the lawn of Warner Park for some free entertainment. Free.

Sunday August 9th

Woodland Hills-  Warner Park is holding concerts in the park Sunday evenings through September.  This week Super Diamond, a Neil Diamond tribute band, will be performing!  So grab a friend and come sing along to Sweet Caroline for a verse or two. Free
Los Angeles-  Sounds of the 60’s (the 1860’s)  Head on over to The Autry to hear The Band of California Battalion.  From 11-4 Ticket price included in admission.
