One of the best months of the year is finally here! The month of giving, love, friendship, family, parties, and pie! There are so many fun festive things to do this month it’s hard to choose how to spend your weekend. Here’s a list of things to do in the SFV and beyond. Happy Holidays!
FRI DEC 2ND
La Canada Flintridge: Descanso Gardens will be bathed in gorgeous color. Their hallmark oak trees and botanic collections will be the stars of this brand new, exciting holiday season light show event. Running through January 8th.
Lake Arrowhead: Santa’s Village, originally closed in 1998 this old-time family tradition is opening up the gates! The park may only be open for a few months so make sure you pay your old memories a visit!
SAT DEC 3RD
Burbank: From 6pm- 6:30pm meet on the steps of Burbank City Hall for the Mayor’s Tree Lighting. Santa will be there along with special guests from Disneyland and the Sounds of the Season with performances from local community groups.
Griffith Park: Members’ Holiday Celebration at the Gene Autry Museum from 10am-4pm members and their guests are invited to get into the holiday spirit with hot chocolate, cider, holiday treats, live music, and a visit from Santa Claus!
Pasadena: Hosted by The Women’s Committee of the Pasadena Symphony Association this is a self-guided tour of 4 elegant homes decorated for the holidays. This is the 49th year for this event and is a showcase of Pasadena’s magnificent architecture, both historical and new.
Universal City: What would the holidays be like if the Grinch didn’t steal Christmas? From today until Jan 1st at Universal Studios (and included with park admission), snap a photo with the Grinch or a 60-foot tree. Catch the Who-liday Singers on the Studio Tour, decorate ornaments, send the Grinch a postcard or sit tight for story time.
SUN DEC 4TH
Los Angeles: The Grier Musser Museum has covered a historic Victorian house built in 1898 in Christmas! You must call for a reservation as there are only 2 tour times. The cost is $12.00 per adult and $6.00 per child.
Tarzana: What better way to start off the month than with a snow slide, a holiday boutique, cookie decorating, bounce house, food and a Nutcracker Recital! This is a free event at the Tarzana Community & Cultural Center from 11am-4pm.
TUES DEC 6TH
Northridge: This will be the 1st Annual CSUN Music Holiday Concert. The will perform holiday-themed pieces with the CSUN Orchestra, CSUN Wind Ensemble, CSUN Jazz A Band, Northridge singers, and many more ensembles as well as some special guests.
THURS DEC 8TH
Sherman Oaks: The Sherman Oaks Galleria will be lighting their tree! Have “Cocoa, Coffee, and Cookies with Santa” and receive a take home photo as a keepsake! The evening includes entertainment, crafts, photo opps and the lighting of their spectacular 40 foot Christmas Tree.
SAT DEC 10TH
Marina Del Rey: Snow Wonder & The Marina Del Rey Holiday Boat Parade at the Burton W. Chace Park. Food trucks, live DJ, sledding in real snow, arts & crafts, and more.
Porter Ranch: Get to the Porter Ranch Library to make a succulent holiday gift! You will learn about them and make your own tiny plant environment. This program is for Adults and Teens only.
SUN DEC 11TH
Studio City: Snow! Snow! Snow! Yes, SNOW in Studio City! Beeman Park presents the Sixth Annual Winter Family Festival. 70 tons of snow with slides, snowball fights and snowman making. Guests will also enjoy samples from local restaurants, craft making, free photos with Santa, food trucks and many other activities.
Northridge: Who says our furbabies don’t want to put in their requests to Santa too? Say “Woof” every Monday at the JCPenney’s through Dec 12th! Bring your four-legged friend to see Santa and pose for a photo. Cats and dogs only.
