Friday Oct 3rd

Burbank- The generous people at the Burbank Dianetics Foundation invite you for some free food and an open mic.  See the home grown talent of Burbank while enjoying a meal.  Event is free but donations are appreciated.
Canoga Park- Calling all Dora the Explorer fans.  Dora and her friends are stopping by the Westfield Topanga Mall to show off their new adventure, Into the City. There will be singing, dancing and coloring plus raffles for some cool prizes.  The best part is that it’s free.
Echo Park­-It’s the closing weekend of the Ambulante California Documentary Film Festival. Come on down to celebrate local artists and their works filmed in our own back yards.  Event is free
Los Feliz- Experience the king of all roads.  Route 66: The Road and the Romance looks at America’s love affair with this highway.  It features iconic cars and art work. Come on down for a trip back in time till the present.
Moorpark- Come on down to Underwood Family Farms fort their Fall Harvest Festival.  It’s all about the pumpkins this time of year.  Enjoy family time while picking your own fruits and veggies.  Festival run through October 31st.  Admission is $3.
Pasadena-Pasadena Museum of California Art would like to remind you that the first Friday of every month is admission free.  If you are looking to incorporate a little culture in your life this is a perfect place to start.

Saturday Oct 4th

Beverly Hills-Come on down to the Sooky Goldman Nature Center to experience Franklin’s Movie Magic.  See Franklin Canyon in different cinema forms from TV to the silver screen dating back to the 1930’s
DTLA-The Derby Dolls are hosting the 6th Annual Health Fair.  Come on down to Temple Street and get a free eye exam, cholesterol testing and dental checkup.  This event is free and open to all ages.
DTLA-Experience the Day of Atonement, Yom Kippur, the last of the high holy days at Metivita.  Come and see what it’s all about.  Admission is free.
DTLA-The 28th Annual Lithuanian Fair is proudly hosted at St. Casimir’s Parish Grounds.  Amerce yourself in a culture most aren’t exposed to.  There is food, ride and music.  Come on down and enjoy.
Hollywood-What do you get when you cross and outdoor movie with wine tasting?  You guessed it, a fundraiser for Barnsdall Art Park. This week’s feature film is Rock ‘n’ Roll High School.  Tickets range from
$10-$25 and it goes to a good cause.  Come on out and show your support.
La Canada-Local author, DJ Adamson, is having a launch party for the new books Admit to Mayhem which is set in the Midwest.  This mystery series will keep you on the edge of your bale of hay.
Los Feliz- Grow by learning to grow. The Community Garden at the Mt. Washington Campus is looking for some green thumbs to help out.  Get your hand dirty and learn something about Mother Earth.
Pasadena­- Live music underneath a starry, crisp fall night is the cure to wash away the blues from the worst of work weeks.  One Colorado has taken care of all of that for you. Just show up to here Jimetta Rose.  Event is free.
Pasadena-USC Pacific Asia Museum proudly presents Silk Road Storytime.  Children love to be read to and what better way than with a bunch of little friends to join them.  Amerce them in the tales from India.  Bring a snack, hear a story and make a craft.  Event is free.
Valley Village-Looking for something different to do with the kids? Take them to Valley Village Park and teach them about knights and stuff.  Medieval sword fighting, etiquette and chivalry are on the menu as the kids learn through play.  First class is free
West LA- It’s that time of the year again, pumpkin patch time. Shaun’s Pumpkin Patch is going all out to make sure your fall is off on the right foot.  Besides pumpkins there will be free straw mazes for the kids and pony rides too, plus crafts and a bungee jump.  Admission is free.

Sunday Oct 5th

Beverly Hills-Time to hit the trail and see what nature has to offer.  The Nature Trek will give you a 2 hours heart pumping jaunt through hills and valleys with taking in nature.  Event is free.
Beverly Hills-Get the kids off the couch and outside where they belong.  Kids’ Hands in Nature will get them out of the house and well, into nature.  This nice stroll will help kids look at the world around them.
Beverly Hills-Ever try to capture a Nature Moment to find out it’s a lot harder than you imagined? Come on down to the Sooky Goldman Center.  Bring your camera and find the best way to take that memorable picture of a warbler.
DTLA- Grand Park is hosting the 23rd Annual Festival of Philippine Art and Culture.  This is the Southland’s longest running Filipino cultural celebration. Come see the tiniklings battles and a balut eating contest.   Admission is free and the turnout is expected to be very high.
DTLA-Try the lamb. St. Nicolas Orthodox Cathedral is holding a day of fun for the whole family.  Admission is free and there are games, food and rides for the masses.  Come on down and seriously try the lamb.
DTLA- The vehicle free event known as Ciclavia is happening.  The human-powered tour of LA is from Echo Park to East LA.  Explore downtown and the surrounding neighborhoods without adding to your carbon footprint.  Event is free.
Mission Hills- Forneris Farms is putting on their annual Harvest festival.  Every weekend until November 2nd is fun for the whole family.  There mazes, tractor pulls and play areas for the kids.  Plus, every weekend there is a special event.  Come on down for some good old fashion fall fun.  Admission is free.
San Marino-The California Art Club has an exhibition at the Old Mill Foundation in San Marino entitled Miniature En Plein Air.  This collection has more than 60 paintings measuring 9×12 inches.  It is amazing how much can be fit on a canvas that small.  Event is free.
Tujunga-Usher in the fall with an outdoor concert.  McGroarty Art Center welcomes you to join Incendio for a free fall concert al fresco.   Enjoy the Latin-inspired sounds that will refresh you for the week to come.
West LA- Ever wonder how to get peace?  Let the Tibetan Monks help you.  The Hammer Museum is sponsoring Artful Acts of Compassion.  This will help you get involved in your community and spread peace through art.  Event is free.
West LA-KCRW is celebrating its 6th Annual Good Food Pie Contest.  This afternoon event will let you make your own mini pie and use some cool kitchen tools.  Event is free.

Friday Oct 10th

Burbank-Get the spooky season off on the right foot.  The Colony Theater proudly presents Carrie.  This 1976 horror classic paved the way for the modern films we have today.  Complementary wine and popcorn will be served.
South Pasadena-Shake off the work week and do some art.  South Pasadena is hosting ArtNight.  This free event takes place at a couple of different art studios in the city.  Make some art, eat some food and meet some new people while you enjoy a wind down from the work week.
South Pasadena-Learning to convey an idea through writing is a lost art form and is more and more being lost to the next generation.  South Pasadena Library is graciously hosting a Tween Writing Series.  This free class will help target the age group that really needs to develop the proper skills to write essays and develop ideas on paper.  Class is highly recommended.

Saturday Oct 11th

DTLA-The Music Center is turning 50 and never looked better.  Come on down for the start of the season.  Enjoy a tour of the center as well as the surrounding theaters in the area, design your won shirt and take a dance lesson.  Even is free.
DTLA- Big Draw LA has teamed up with Grand Park and Ryman Arts to bring you the 3rd Annual Make your Mark in the Park.  Learn how to draw using different techniques and let the pros teach you.  Event is free.  There will be food trucks and dancers to entertain the masses.
DTLA-Fall is in the air and what better way to enjoy it than to take a hike to the beach.  Transit to Trails will take you on the train to the coast to experience the trails and plant life along the shores.  Bring beach attire and everything you will need for a wonderful day.  Event is free.
DTLA- The Los Angeles Convention Center is playing host to a very good cause.  The Choices Expo LA is a day of fun and education for the whole family.  This weekend event shows kids and families how to make the right choices with their health and diet.  Free medical screenings are also available.
Hollywood-Fast Times at Ridgemont High is an iconic American film. What better way to be an American than to support a good cause and have a little fun in the process.  Come on down to Barnsdall Park and watch a movie outside while listening to some DJs spin and have an evening beverage.  Tickets are $10-$25.
Los Angeles-Andrew and Polly have been making kids sing and dance for years and now they are coming to the Children’s Book World for a mini concert. Stop on by and get the wiggles out. Event is free.
Los Feliz- Growing your own food is the very rewarding.  Take the first steps to growing your own garden by helping with a community one.  The Mt. Washington Campus Community Garden is looking for a few good hands.  Come on down and get rich in earth.
Northridge- Valley Vista: Art in the San Fernando Valley is a beautiful collection of photographs showing the changing valley from 1970-1990.  This collection shows the birth of the valley we know today.  Admission is free.
Pasadena-One Colorado has pulled out all the stops to make sure you are cultured as a musical individual.  Coming to the stage is Fishtank Ensemble.  They have been described as a Molotov cocktail for your ears.  This should be interesting.  Event is free.
Studio City-Moorpark Park is hosting the Rotary Club’s Fall Arts Festival.  This festival features what the Rotary does and various artists from around the area.  Come on by and take the kids to the play area and support Burbank Boy Scout Troop 210.
Woodland Hills- Ever catch yourself looking at the night sky and wondering what it is all about.  Wonder no more.  The Science Imaging and Astronomy Expo will help you fill in those blanks.  Admission is free plus there are prizes that will be raffled off.  This all day affair is capped off with a night sky star party.

Sunday Oct 12th

Encino-27th Annual Taste of Encino is a one day festival to show all of what Encino has to offer.  There is food, vendors, crafts and games for the whole family.  Come on down for some family quality and to check out this iconic San Fernando city.
LA/ Griffith Park-One of my favorite things to do as a kid was to ride the Steamers at Griffith Park.  Well, they are back.  Take the kids down to ride on the Los Angeles Live Steamers through Griffith Park.  Admission is free but a suggested donation of $3 to ride the steamers.  Come on down and make some memories.
Pasadena-Don’t be bummed that the weekend is almost over.  Come on down to One Colorado to goof off in a photo booth. Take a bunch of goofy pictures with props.  While you are down there enjoy some beauty from MAC, Sephora and Origins.  The DJ will also be spinning to make sure your Sunday is a funday.
Pasadena-After a two year hiatus, open house at JPL is back.  Come on down for a free tour of the place.  See where important space discoveries start.  Bring the kids and let their imagination reach to the stars.
San Marino- Alex Romero, a world famous choreographer turned author is coming to the Crowell Public Library for one day book signing and talk.  Hear how his family escaped war torn Mexico to make a better life in America. His career has spanned all genres.  Event is free.
West Hollywood We have been fighting AIDS for a long time and this year marks the 30th Annual Aids Walk.  Come on out to help raise money for a worthy cause.  This is the largest fund raiser during the year to collect funds for the research, treatment and preventing AIDS.
