January 1st is usually a day that most of us look forward to. It means a new start, and sometimes a new career, new resolution, new mindset, and most of the time it’s a good change. If it hasn’t been the best of years, who wouldn’t want a chance to reset and start again? And if it has been the best of years, there’s excitement to see what the new year brings. Regardless, you have to bring in the new year right! If you don’t plan on having a nice quiet night at home, check out the events I found that will start 2017 with a bang! Happy New Year!



Burbank – At Flappers Comedy Club they are bringing in the New Year with laugh! Flappers East Coast New Year’s Eve, 7:30 p.m. ($39). Flappers Funnies West Coast Show, 10 p.m. ($39). 102 E. Magnolia St., Burbank.

CalabasasSagebrush Cantina is bringing in the New Year with classic rock!  8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Admission is $75 a person, or $140 a couple. Reservations are required.

Pasadena – This one is for the kids! Kids Space Museum is having a “Noon Year’s Eve” where the family can celebrate the coming year without messing up that bedtime schedule! The kids don’t miss out on the festivities and they still get to sleep on time so parents can enjoy! Perfect!

Sherman Oaks– New Year’s Eve at the L.A. Connection Comedy Theatre will bring in the New Year with those positive vibes! Shows at 8 p.m. ($25) and 10 p.m. ($35). Reservation are being accepted. 13442 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks.

Universal City Walk – A “New Year’s Movie Night” and parties at nightclubs and restaurants will show you some fun! This movie event includes a selected film, complimentary drink, all-you-can-eat popcorn, goodie bag and a DJ count down party. Reservation are advised for the movies.

Winnetka – New Year’s Eve Party at Winnetka Bowl! 9 p.m. – 1 a.m. $160 per lane for up to 6 people includes 4 hours of Rock’n Bowl, rental shoes, pizza, wings, soda, door prizes, party favors, champagne at midnight, and colored pin bowling. Winnetka Bowl 20122 Vanowen St., Winnetka. 818-340-5190.


Burbank – Start off the New Year with locally craft beer at the Golden Road Brewery! Four course dinner (with vegan options) that comes with a DJ, a special pour of a barrel-aged beer, plus a midnight beer toast for only $65.  5410 W. San Fernando Rd.

Granada Hills – New Year’s Eve Gala at the Odyssey. Featuring a gourmet dinner buffet with action stations, tray passed hors d’oeuvres, live band, champagne toast at midnight and much more! $99 a person from 7 p.m. – 1 a.m. 15600 Odyssey Dr., Granada Hills. 818-366-6444

Sherman OaksCafé Cordiale New Year’s Dinner, 5-7:15 p.m. and 9-10 p.m. Reservations only. 14015 Ventura Blvd., Sherman Oaks. 818-789-1985.

Universal City – Ring in the New Year Brazilian Style at Samba. DJ, dancing, party favors, unlimited buffet and champagne toast at midnight. Early Bird Special $55 per person. Samba shows throughout the night. Universal City Walk
