Looking for a few ideas of things to do?  Here’s a few ideas…

POW/MIA RECOGNITION DAY: Take a few minutes Friday to recognize the thousands of who have either been taken as a prisoner of war, or are still missing in action.  Or better yet, reach out to your local VFW hall to see what sort of festivities they might have planned!

DOWNTOWN: If you didn’t get enough Dancing Downtown, there’s one more chance to join in on the fun.  Head to Grand Park to dance the samba as this summer series heads to a close.

ENCINO: Head to the Encino Community Center if you’re looking for all things “Mommy”.  THE resource fair for all things for both mommies and mommies-to-be, My Mommie Fair will have tips for all problems mommies face–even id & finger printing for the kiddos for safety precautions.

Kaiser Permenante will be hosting Healthy Kids, Healthy Families Fair. Pick up new recipes and information on eating healthy, watch cooking demonstrations, and play games in the name of education.SYLMAR: The beginnings of the Sylmar Olive Festival, you can get your olives on both Sat. and Sun. From music to chalk festivals to… well… lots of olives, there should be something interesting for all!TARZANA: Join the Tarzana Improvement Association for the annual Safari Walk Annual Sidewalk Fair.  From martial arts & dancing performances to face painters and balloon animals–there’s something for every member of the family.

LOS ANGELES: Just over the hill and west of the 405, a group of dancers will be doing their thang for the first Dance Walk.  Yep–that’s a thing.  But even more importantly, the 5K is to support MS research.  Hosted by Courtney Galiano from So You Think You Can Dance! dance/walkers will sashe their way around LA all in the name of research.

The cities of Sherman Oaks & Studio City are supporting the national event, Car Free Day.  And at the end, walk to the community picnic!VAN NUYS: Stop Cancer! Run/Walk through Woodley Park to help raise money towards cancer research.  Choose the 5k or the 10k options, and your speed. And if stopping cancer isn’t your thing, maybe honorary co-chair Armie Hammer is.

VALENCIA: Beginning on Thursday the 26th thru Sunday the 29th, head up to SCV Kids Consignment Fall Sale to stock up on all the pants that Junior will outgrow in 2 months.  Or get rid of the pants from 2 months ago that now no longer fit.  Your choice.

DOWNTOWN: I’ve never been to a drive-in before, so I might need to check off my bucket list See NeverEnding Story at a Drive-inthis day.  Little known, Chelsea fact: The NeverEnding Story is definitely one of my favorite childhood movies.  I mean, who doesn’t want to ride a giant, flying dog-like creature?!

EXPOSITION PARK: I know I usually don’t post things this far down, but it’s for a good cause.  Join others to help Walk to End Lupus Now.  Help to raise awareness–and money–for the cause.

PASADENA: Round up the family and head to the Pasadena Museum of California Art for Family Day!  Refreshments will be provided by Whole Foods and projects themed around current exhibits will keep all the future Henry Miller’s entertained.

DOWNTOWN: Fact–ukulele means “jumping flea” in Hawaiian.  Seriously.  Tickets are free, but space is limited to join the Music Center’s Ukulele-Along: where beginner and intermediate ukulele enthusiasts can step into the gateway of happiness and make some fun music.

PASADENA: Last walk, I swear.  Bring the puppies and kiddos and join the Pasadena Humane Society & SPCA for the Wiggle Waggle Walk.  This one entry is free–but donations & sponsorship are certainly encouraged.

TARZANA: Calling all princes and princesses!  The Faery Hunt is underway!  Join the faery folk as they search for the Fae Royalty in a scavenger hunt type interactive show.  Costumes for the kids are encouraged.
