Fri February 22nd

LOS ANGELES: Turkish Food Festival – 17330 Gresham Street – “Enrich your tastebuds with a variety of delicious Turkis food.” Everyone is welcome! FREE parking. Entrance to the festival is also FREE, and the event runs Feb. 22-25. Daily hours vary.

LAKEWOOD: 4th Friday Kids Club at Lakewood Center – Kids ages 1 – 12 will have a blast at the Polar Party while they learn how some animals live in the coldest places on earth. This FREE event includes crafts, face painting, and more. 11 am to noon in front of Macy’s.

Sat February 23rd

LONG BEACH:  – Urban Hive Market – Pike Outlets – Head to the Long Beach Saturday Market for the food trucks, food court, and 50+ local artisans! It’s a great way to support small businesses. FREE 2-hour parking with validation from one of Pike’s permanent stores. Hours are 4 – 9 pm (it’s an evening market!), and entry is FREE.

SANTA MONICA: Santa Monica Wine Fest – Barker Hangar – Taste and learn about wines from around the world. This festival is for anyone interested in wine, not just wine connoisseurs. Tickets start at just $10 per session. Proceeds from the event benefit the Surfrider Foundation for ocean and beach protection. Ages 21 and older only. Feb. 23-24.

Sun February 24th

TOPANGA: Topanga Vintage Market at Pierce College – Don’t miss one of LA’s Top 5 flea markets with “over 180 of LA’s best vintage, antiques, and collectibles dealers, plus live music, local artists, and great food trucks.” Admission is $4 and kids 12 and under are FREE. No pets, please. FREE parking. Open 8 am to 3 pm. Rain or shine!

VENICE: Venice Electric Light Parade – Venice Beach – Since March 2017, a parade of bicycles decked out in bright and twinkly lights has gathered at Windward Plaza to roll through the neighborhood to promote bike safety. If you’re going to do it, you might as well do it in style! This is a weekly Sunday event, but it does cancel if there’s rain. Families are welcome with kids ages 6 and older. FREE event.

Fri March 1st

LONG BEACH: Shark Lagoon Nights – Aquarium of the Pacific – The Aquarium only offers this on certain Friday nights, so you don’t want to miss it. You’ll not only see but also get to touch the bamboo sharks! Other sharks will be around, such as the sandtigers. Open between 6 and 9 pm. Only Shark Lagoon is open these nights, and if there’s inclement weather, the event will be cancelled. Open to all ages. FREE admission.

LOS ANGELES:  – Breakfast & Cartoons – Melody Bar & Grill – What a great concept! You get to enjoy your breakfast, and the kids get to watch a cartoon movie and play. Perhaps a mimosa is in order? Kitchen and bar open at 8 am.

SANTA ANA: Jamboree 2019 by Parenting OC – Discovery Cube Orange County – This is the 13th Anniversary Edition of the FREE Kids’ Summer Opportunities Jamboree event. The event will run from 10 am to 3 pm. This is the fourth year the iconic Orange County family destination has partnered with Parenting OC to host the summer-fun planning extravaganza. 

Sun March 3rd

SANTA CLARITA: Sundays at The Gentle Barn – approximately 30 miles north of Los Angeles – The Gentle Barn “rescues animals from severe abuse and neglect who are too old, sick, lame, or scared to be adopted into homes.” The goal at the Barn is to teach children (and adults!) kindness and compassion by showing them how to interact lovingly with the animals. Adults $22, kids $12 (if you are unable to afford admission costs, contact them, as they will not turn anyone away due to financial hardship). Hours are 10 am to 2 pm (gates open at 9:30 am).

LOS ANGELES: Mardi Gras at the Farmers Market – Original Los Angeles Farmers Market – The 30th Annual Mardi Gras Celebration starts Saturday, continues today, and ends on Fat Tuesday (March 5). There will be “the finest New Orleans and Zydeco music, strolling parade bands, activities for kids, beat-throwing, and much more!”
