The short month of February is approaching the end, but it isn’t taking all the fun with it. The amusing events and activities for the entire family are here to stay, and I’m bringing you a great deal of them below:
Fri Feb 23rd
LONG BEACH – Long Beach Art Museum – This small museum has a lovely location on a coastal bluff. The collections and exhibits focus on ceramics, early 20th-century European art, and California art. Every Friday is a free admission day.

RESEDA – Attend a gentle yoga session for free at the West Valley Regional Branch Library with a certified yoga instructor. You will learn how to calm your body and your mind. All levels are welcome, you just need to bring your own mat or towel and water for hydration. See more here.
Sat Feb 24th
DTLA – Bring your children and their imagination at the Edendale Branch Library this Saturday for an entertaining afternoon of LEGO brick building activities. The event starts at 9:30 am and is free of charge.
NORTH HILLS – ZUMBA! With Lula – Saturday mornings for a fun cardio dance party! Wear comfortable shoes and clothes and get ready to get your groove on at the Mid-Valley Regional Library. Find more information here.
NORTH HILLS – ZUMBA! with Lula KIDS Session. Just added for the new year: Saturday morning Zumba for KIDS. Take your little ones for a morning fun and dancing at the Mid-Valley Regional Library. Find more information here.
NORTH HOLLYWOOD – Free Income Tax Preparation and Filing – Free income tax preparation and filing by CSUN through the IRS Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.Appointments are recommended, but not required. TORRANCE – Come and explore a new dimension. A representative from NASA will be talking about STEM and Ecological Endeavors. See more information here.

CENTRAL LA – Hammer Museum – Admission to all exhibitions and public programs at the Hammer is free and open to the public.

LAKE VIEW TERRACE – Discovery Cube LA – This playful, educational museum features permanent & traveling hands-on exhibits for children. Don’t miss the Aquavator, the Discovery Market the Helicopter tour and other fun stuff it has to offer.

SANTA ANA – Bowers Museum – On Sundays, the Bowers offers free tickets to the museum to visitors. In addition, on the first Sunday of each month, a Family Festival is held in the Key Courtyard. the festival is free to all visitors.

HOLLYWOOD – THE UGLY DUCKLING: Theater in Hollywood presents the storybook of the award-winning musical about the Ugly Duckling. Cost: $15 adult; $12 children. See more here.
SOUTH LA – F.A.B. The Friends of Jefferson Branch Used Book Sales are held on Friday mornings in the library. Come find treasures to own and keep! Support the Friends of Jefferson Branch and support the Library. Everyone’s welcomed.

CENTRAL LA – Student Smart: SAT Practice Exam – a full-length practice test where students will get their score results by email two weeks after the exam. Students can use the results from the practice exam to help them understand their strengths and weaknesses and better prepare for the real exam. Sign up here.
DTLA – Join for free “Classic Tai Chi” classes by instructor Bill Cheng. Each class will include “Energy Trilogy” demonstration for 108 Classic Tai Chi forms, as well as questions & answers.
HYDE PARK – Quilting Circle – Do you quilt? Don’t quilt alone–come join your fellow quilters at this monthly meeting. For adults over age 18. No sign-up required. Just drop in at 10 am and start quilting.
SHERMAN OAKS – Used Book Sale – The Friends of the Sherman Oaks Library conducts a monthly sale of books, DVDs, and CDs. Check out the event here.

CENTRAL LA – Craft and Folk Art Museum – You never know what you might find at this smaller museum that hosts a wide variety of exhibitions. Admission is “pay what you want” on Sundays, from 11 am to 6 pm.
DESCANSO GARDENS – Cherry Blossom Festival: Witness the springtime bloom during this monthlong celebration of Japanese culture featuring origami demonstrations. Check out the event here.
GRIFFITH PARK – The museum formerly known as the Cowboy Museum welcomes families each day for its exhibition of Native American and Western U.S. history.
