Looking for fun things to do around the San Fernando Valley and surrounding Los Angeles areas this weekend?  Well look no further.  Here’s a few ideas that may spark your interest!

Fri June 6th

HollywoodComedy is Dead, literally.  A comedy show at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery sounds like good times.  It is sure to be a night you won’t forget without therapy.

Sherman Oaks– Dancing Under the Stars with the Arthur Murray dance studios.  The first Friday of every month this summer features a free dance class by the world renowned Arthur Murray Dance studios.

Studio City– Beginning the 4th and running all weekend will be a movie lover’s dream: the Studio City Film Festival.  Just down the street from the CBS lot, the film festival will be showing a wide range of genres, perfect for getting your appetite whet with your favorites!

Sat June 7th

Burbank– If kitties are more your thing, and you’re thinking of adding a member to your family, then head to the Adoption Event for Milo’s Sanctuary and Special Needs Cats at the Centinela Feed and Pet Supply.  Give a furry friend a forever home.

Downtown- Combine two things that Angelenos love: film and dance.  Grand Park, MOCA, The Music Center, and several others have partnered together for a week long Dance and Dance Film Festival.  Walk around and check out all the various performers in various locations throughout the park.

Studio City– You all know Sylvester Stallone but Frank Stallone has the talent in the family.  Come on down to Vitellos to see him perform his hits (not mob ones).

Pasadena- A free musical celebration is taking over Pasadena for Make Music Pasadena Lots of discounts and ways to get here.  More musical acts than you’ll know what to do with.

Santa Monica– Santa Monica is proud to present the Paddleboard Race and Ocean Festival presented by Tommy Bahama.  Come out and see the fastest paddlers in the world. Event is free

Sherman Oaks- Gather the kiddos and head to the Galleria for their Saturday morning Kids Club events.  This week Singer Ranger Jack will make up fantastical songs and use the power of his imagination to lull your kids into singing along.

Toluca Lake- If you’ve been thinking of adding a furry, wagging member  to your family, then come on down to A La Mutt and give a dog a forever home during their Dog Adoption event.

Van Nuys– If you’ve always admired our boys in blue, then join the festivities at the Van Nuys Community Police Station as they celebrate their 50th Anniversary.  A giant high-five fellas for all the hard work!

Sun June 8th

Culver City-One of the things that says ‘summer’ the most is a vibrant garden.  Stop by the longest running garden show in Los Angeles.  61st Annual Show and Plant Sale will be going on both Saturday and Sunday.

Encino– If you are not tired of the Oscar winning music from the movie Frozen yet, come on down for a Frozen Sing-Along and Play-Along!  Lots of fun and prizes too.

Mid-Wilshire– Be a part of something different.  The Dream Builders 2nd Flash Mob to feed the homeless will be packing brown paper bags and hand them out to the homeless.  Finally, a flash mob with some real stellar moves… towards helping humanity.

Griffith Park-Bring the whole family down to the Autry in Griffith Park to Pan for Gold.  Transform yourself to the times of the 49ers of the old west and get gold the old fashion way.  This event runs for 11am-3pm

North Hollywood-If you’re craving some good ol’ southern food, head to the Southern Showdown at The Other Door.  Featuring radio talent from around LA, enjoy fresh Louisiana crawfish complete with whiskey or beer.  This is a 21+event so leave the kiddies at home.

Studio City– CBS Studios will be proud to host Heifer International’s Rock The Goats Music Festival this year.  Yes, that’s right – Rock the Goats.  The event to celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Heifer International – an organization who helps impoverished people in third world countries build a local economy – will include “bands, celebrities, jugglers, tight rope & stilt walkers, animals, and replicas of houses from countries Heifer serves, food & drink all on a Sunday afternoon with your family on a movie set backdrop”

Woodland Hills– Yay!  Concerts in the Park is back!  The annual summer series is a valley favorite, and this year is no different.  Kicking off the season will be World Beat Keynote Maestro Freddie Ravel & Friends, which includes special guest of Freddie’s, Michael Paolo.

Fri June 13th

Agoura Hills- Is there a future green-loving soccer superstar in your house?  Come out and see with World Cup Recycling KICK.  Mini soccer camps for all age groups plus learn how to recycle things.  Lots of toys to be raffled off by K’NEX.

Atwater Village– Kids already bored at home on summer break?  Get them out of the house and come to the LA River where you will explore the world around you during Mommy and Me at the River Marsh Park.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Beverly Hills– Looking for something spooky to do on Friday the 13th? How about a Full Moon Hike at Franklin Canyon.  It’s it sure to bring out the beast in you.

Sat June 14th

Atwater Village– Start your summer off right with a good old fashion campfire.  Come to Marsh Street for the Evening Campfire and meet some friends, sing some songs and have a s’more – or two.

Calabasas– At 3pm come to the King Gillette Ranch to experience the Walk into the Chumash World.  Explore how the native people of the area lived.

Hollywood- Unwind with the sound of Jazz, at the 36th Annual Playboy Jazz Festival.  It starts today and goes thru Sunday.  Enjoy the relaxing sounds of Jazz while being entertained by MC George Lopez.

North Hollywood- Hands for Hope, a local nonprofit designed to give at risk kids and teens and single parent homes a hand, will be holding their 14th Annual Hands of Hope 5k Hopewalk and Healthy Fair to raise money. Come walk, eat the free food, and enjoy the live entertainment.

Santa Monica–  Enjoy the free festival for the whole family that showcases the unique beach culture during the 23rd Annual Santa Monica Festival 2014 at Clover Park.  A huge celebration with live music, bike safety checks, and a focus on sustainable living, the festival embodies a Santa Monican.

Sherman Oaks-If you’re thinking this weekend holds more of a quiet day reading, then perhaps you’d prefer to find to find yourself at the Sherman Oaks Friends of the Library Book Sale instead.  Stop on in to get a new to you book, DVD or CD.  Proceeds go to the library.

Sun June 15th


Los Angeles– Come down to the Autry Museum with dad and have a signature western meal as part of the Father’s Day Brunch.

Pasadena– Every year, one of my favorite events of the year in Pasadena is when all the chalk artists come out for the 22nd Annual Pasadena Chalk Festival.  Dubbed the world’s largest street painting festival, more than 600 artists head to Paseo Colorado to show off their stuff!

Woodland Hills- If rock music is more your thing, then perhaps Dad can appreciate an evening at Warner Park singing along to Which One’s Pink – A Tribute to the Music of Pink Floyd.  Rock out, my man. Rock. Out.
