Fri Nov 14th

DTLA- Vista Hermosa is holding a night hike called Creatures of the Night.  This walk is a great way for a family to spend time together and get a little exercise in the process.  Hike is about an hour and you need to bring a flashlight.  Event is free.
DTLA- It’s the most wonderful time of the year, almost.  Pershing Square has set up a beautiful ice rink in the middle of downtown.  It’s $9 to skate but all sorts of fun, free activities are also planned.  There will also be lots of music as the local radio station will be hooking up the tunes.
DTLA- Grand Park is at it again. It’s time to get down with Pakistani and India dance moves.  This event goes on all week long collimating with a big performance with DJ Discostan.  Event is free.  Shaking off the work week, priceless.
DTLA- Yozo Abe, direct from Japan.  This Japanese contemporary artist is filling up J-Town with this Flying Colors exhibit.  This is his second trip to the states, his first trip earned him critical acclaim.  Event is free.
Northridge-Mark Zaurov has had an incredible life.  Born into a Jewish family in Russia he migrated to Germany right before the outbreak of war.  Growing up deaf was both a blessing and a curse during what he calls the ‘deaf holocaust’.  Event is free
West Hollywood- Bar Lubitsch and Peachy Keen are at it again to give you the best free stand up show in LA.  Tons of famous Hollywood types, on stage, making you laugh your cares away for free.  Be there.
West LA-It’s time to get your fashion on.  Trina Turk is having their LA Sample show.  This event is free and features all the wears.  Event runs throughout the weekend.  Tis the season to look like a million bucks.
West LA- Instrumentarium LA is coming to the Goethe Institut.  Watch Ulrich Krieger and Ketstin Holvand create sounds and bring them to life with music.  Theses German guys can really work a synthesizer.  Event is free.

Beverly Hills-Ever have trouble taking a picture of a beautiful bird in your back yard?  Now you can master that with Nature in Focus.  Bring a camera and some walking shoes, this hike will help to get the picture.  Event is free and about 2 hours.
Burbank- There is nothing like getting a good bargain on clothing and there’s no better way than to go to a sample sale.  Sanctuary Clothing is doing just that in their store. Permission to shop away.  Event is free.
DTLA- The Emerging Latino Filmmakers Showcase kicks off at the AT&T center in downtown LA. RSVP and see the latest and greatest upcoming Latino filmmakers as they show off their work.  Drink and appetizers will be provided. Event is free.
Montrose-Michael Aram is stopping by the La Perla Design Gallery.  Come on down and meet the man behind the design, even get your items signed by him.  Event is free.
Pasadena-Ever wanted to have a parade for now reason? Pasadena’s Doo Dah Parade is here.  With its funky costumes and crazy floats, it’s sure to be a good time for the whole family.  Event is free.
Valley Glen-It’s spring cleaning in November.  Annual Slam Dunk the Junk day is here.  This yearly event encourages community and cleanliness.  Stop on by, clean up and get a free lunch.  Event is free.
West LA- The Goethe Institut is putting on a lecture and workshop on violence in video games. With the 100th anniversary of WW1 approaching, we think about what we have done in society about how we perceive violence.  Event is free.
West LA-The yarn bombers are back.  Craft and Folk Art Museum is hosting the crazed crafters again.  Bring your project and prepare to finish it.  All levels of skill are welcome
West LA- IMAM in conjunction with LA/Islam Art Initiative presents American Muslim Voices Film Festival. There will be film screening throughout the day and a panel to discuss Islam in films at 5:30pm.  Event is free.
West LA-The Peach Tree Pottery 9th Annual Holiday Show goes all weekend and features some really cool stuff. Jewelry, pottery and photography and other textiles will be on display. Event is free but Christmas shopping is encouraged.

Altadena-St. Elizabeth Parish School is proud to present the 4th Annual All Outdoors Arts and Craft Event. This festival features local artist and what they are able to do with their hands.  While having good ole’ fashion family fun that includes face paints and games.  Event is free.
Beverly Hills– We have all heard the saying, Walk a mile in my moccasins.  Now you can.  The Native Ways hike with take you through the daily life of the Chumash Indians who lived on the very land you walk along.  See what a typical day was for them.  Event is free.
DTLA- Tis the season of giving and what better way than to Adopt a Family.  DPSS is helping the holidays be a little bit merrier for those that don’t have a lot.  Pick up a families wish list and do some good for someone in need.
DTLA- The Downtown Art Center Gallery is opening up an exhibit entitles Curated by Manual History Machines.  This exhibit is full of artists and members of ECF (exceptional children’s foundation) highlighting what art can do.  Event is free.
West LA- The Peace Awareness Labyrinth and Gardens present Living in Light workshop.  This event is to help you get through your days with peace, joy and neutrality.  This free event will take a load off your shoulders.
West LA-Loyola Marymount University continues there Jewish studies series, this time featuring the book Our Holocaust.  This book tells the story through the eye of the generation after the holocaust, stories that were told by people who lived the holocaust and what was passed down to the next generation.
West LA- The Hammer Museum is putting a series call Family Flicks Film Series: Little Fugitive.  This wonderful film was nominated for best picture.  Bring the kids and have a great time. Event is free.
Westlake Village- It’s time to light the Christmas tree at The Promenade in Westlake Village.  This 65 foot stunner will put you in the holiday spirit for sure.  Event is free.

DTLA-It’s time to skate off the work week.  Pershing Square is making it snow easy to do so (see what I did there?) Stop by to take a couple laps around the rink and forget about your worries.  Skating is $9 but there are a lot of non-gratis things to do as well.
DTLA- Rough week at work? Laugh it off.  The Last Book Review is hosting a free show staring a bunch of famous people tell you stories.  It is sure to get your weekend started and the right foot.
Glendale-The Erin Hanson Gallery is have an open house and a collection celebration.  If you were looking to add a little culture to your life, this is the event.  Look at some beautiful art and enjoy the wine tasting, cheeses and live music.  Event is free.

Altadena- The 29th Annual Elves’ Faire is coming to the Pasadena Waldorf School.  This event is magical and helps you still believe in elves and fairies and middle earth. There is all kinds of food, rides and music.  Event is free.
DTLA-Electric Dusk Drive-in is presenting Planes, Trains and Automobiles.  An iconic 80’s comedy which teams John Candy and Steve Martin.  They play characters that are so opposite it’s funny.  Tickets start at $9 a carload.
DTLA-Grand Park is at it again with a new playground.  Meet Me at the Playground kicks off at 2pm.  There will be lots of fun in store as always with Grand Park.  Event is free.
DTLA- The Los Angeles Center of the Art of Living Foundation wants to make sure you are healthy this holiday season by hosting a Heath & Wellness Event.  Take some tests, get some screening and start living a better life.  Event is free.
Griffith Park-Come and join the community garden.  The Historic Southwest Museum has one that needs a little tending.  Pull some weeds and water the soil.  Admission is free.
Los Angeles-Are you looking to brighten someone’s holidays this year?  Big Sunday is looking for a few good people to help out. The need is great but the reward is greater.
Pasadena- Come and celebrate World Adoption Day.  Heartsent Adoptions Inc. is holding an open house.  Come and see what they have to offer.  There will be refreshments and some info on what they do.  Come on in and see what they are all about

North Hollywood-If there’s two things Italians can do it’s eat and party.  Victorio’s Ristorante is having one spicy meatball party to celebrate their 50th anniversary.  There’s going to be food, music, games and comedy. You can fahgettaboudit when it comes to paying, it’s free.
West LA-There’s a pop-up boutique coming your way.  Shop for Success is bringing the designers you want at a 70% discount.  The best part is 100% of the proceeds go to the Dress for Success charity the gives clothes to under privileged women to help them find work.  Do a little good for a greater cause.  Event is free.
West LA- The Craft and Folk Art Museum presents Clare Graham & MorYork.  There will be a panel discussion and some insight from one of LA’s top designers.  Event is free.
DTLA- DPSS is helping out those who are less fortunate this year by sponsoring a program called Adopt a Family.  Pick up a families’ wish list and fill a need in the community.  By playing Santa, you will be the one with the true gift.

Burbank-The most wonderful time of the year just got better, Downtown Burbank is frozen. Come by The Rink for some ice skating fun.  It’s $10 to skate and passes are available to skate all season long.  Come on down for some fun.
DTLA- Need to recharge after your holiday feast.  Stop by Grand Park for Lunchtime Yoga Retreat.  Say Namaste to your worries.  Event is free.

Pasadena- The Pacific Asian Museum is having free 4th Fridays.  Enjoy a wonderful time with your family at this free event.  Discover the Asian culture.
Sherman Oaks- If black Friday shopping is not your style, maybe giving blood is.  The Thanksgiving Community Blood Drive is taking place at the Hampton Inn on Sepulveda.  Save someone life by giving blood today there are also special prizes.  Event is free.

DTLA-Fill a need by helping someone in need.  DPSS is playing match maker with people who want to give with families who don’t have enough.  Adopt a Family helps those who are less fortunate have a happy holiday season.  Come on down and do some good.
Eagle Rock-This is the city that knows how to party.  The We Heart Eagle Rock Block Party is a free event that is happening between Westdale to Colorado. This good time is fun for the whole family.  Hope to see you there.

DTLA- Tomorrow it’s December but what better way to get into the holiday spirit than to go ice skating.  Come on down to Pershing Square for a little merriment.  Tickets are $9 plus there is a lot of bonus features that are completely free.
Hollywood- The Hollywood Christmas Parade is hitting the streets so you can see Santa first.  It’ll probably be in the 70’s but we can all pretend it’s nice and frosty outside.  Come on down and line the streets to see the big guy in red.  Event is free.
